Every week or two I’ll be putting up a new challenge/challenging question here, so check it out when you get the chance! I’ll try to keep the challenge related to something I’m experiencing.
May 6th Challenge:
Take the countries of Africa quiz!

April 29th Challenge:
Take a “bucket shower”. Imagine you’re expected to travel about 1km to get water every day, you probably won’t want to spend much water on your bathing! Instead of taking a typical North American 10 minute shower, take a bucket with you and fill it! You’ll save a lot of water.
If you want to take it further, imagine that the waste water from your shower may end up in your water source, and therefore you’re only going to want to use biodegradable products.
June 29th Challenge
Do your laundry by hand.
I dare you.
Also, next time you’re on a bus, greet someone! Buses are so depressing, but I just met a guy who met his fiancee on a bus. There’s so much potential for bus-rider interaction. In Ghana, riding a tro tro (imagine a van with 5 rows fitting about 25 people in it…) to a village usually results in me holding someones’ baby so they can subdue their chicken if need be.
That being said, I do respect and appreciate the amount of thinking you can get done staring out the window with your iPod in. Mix it up.
I really like this section!!
And incidentally, I’m on similar effective resource consumption spree these days.
I did the bucket shower multiple times in Kinshasa because the water cut out.. so I was in a tub still.. but only had the one tub of water… and it was freeeeeezing! Good job on trying that one! Everyone was impressed that the mundele took a bucket bath!
